The E Street Band: Bruce Springsteen's long-time backing band named after the street in Belmar, New Jersey, where keyboardist David Sancious's mother lived and allowed them to rehearse. The group formed informally in 1972, with a shifting membership, though Sancious only later began appearing as a concert regular. The name was effectively in place for the 1973 LP title The Wild, The Innocent and The E. Street Shuffle, by which time he'd been on board for a short period.
